As extended stays continue to rise, Mews generates €300 million in extra revenue for hoteliers with its multi-space management software.
[Amsterdam: 6th December 2024] – Mews, the industry-leading hospitality cloud, now provides over 1,650 properties with its integrated multi-space management software, Mews Spaces. Over 1 million reservations in the industry have been booked via Mews Spaces, for co-working spaces, desks, day beds and more, creating more than €300 million in additional revenue for hoteliers.
One in four Mews customers now use Mews Spaces to provide additional bookable services, including parking spots, meeting rooms and day-use hotel rooms. Properties can offer guests hourly, daily, nightly or monthly services, meaning true flexibility. Space inventory is managed within Mews in the same way as typical room nights, streamlining operations so that staff save time and businesses can boost and diversify their revenue.
“Mews is incredibly powerful for hoteliers because it means you can manage any part of the property – be it rooms, parking, co-working spaces or anything in between – within the same platform,” said Matthijs Welle, CEO at Mews. “A diverse business is a healthy business, and Mews Spaces empowers hoteliers to capture extra revenue without the complication of adding additional software. A modern hotel is so much more than just bedrooms. We want to help them generate revenue from every square meter possible.”
Over one third – or €100 million – of this additional revenue generated through Mews Spaces is driven by long-stay bookings. The global market size for extended stays is rising every year, and in 2023, it was estimated to be over $54 billion. This is expected to more than triple in the next decade, and hoteliers that are able to easily tap into this fast-growing revenue source are well positioned for success.
The number of properties offering additional bookable services through Mews has doubled in less than a year. In 2024 to date, the average revenue per reservation through Mews Spaces was €430, up by 80% year-on-year.
Frederic Loots, Director of WP Hotels, said: “Integrating parking into the PMS has made a big difference for us. We can easily see the impact it’s having by looking at the report, and it saves us lots of time by not having to do any manual entries. Ultimately, this means we can focus on giving guests an even better experience.”
Bert Serry, Operations Manager for Yalo, added: “Mews allows us to go beyond rooms. For instance, we can manage meeting room spaces in exactly the same way in the same platform, generating extra revenue without extra hassle.”
Hoteliers can offer these bookable services to guests in existing user flows such as the booking engine or online check-in, or create additional booking engines to encourage day visitors to book. Meanwhile, businesses will soon be able to optimize and maximize their space inventory at a more granular level with the upcoming release of an hourly booking engine.
Compagnie Hôtelière de Bagatelle created an additional Mews Booking Engine to manage and sell its rooms for day use. Delphine Juhel, Director of Operations, said: “We realized that we could make much better use of our rooms by opening them up to day use. It’s a great source of extra revenue and it makes us more visible within the local community.”
