Meet Barkha Merchant, our Customer Success Director!

I’ve long been a believer that the universe directs you to where you belong. A few years ago whilst pursuing my MBA in the U.K., I was wondering where my career was headed next. All I knew was that I wanted to be in the hospitality industry with a focus on IT because that has been a passion of mine since I graduated.
I remember seeing a small Mews booth at World Travel Market (WTM) in London in 2017, but I didn’t know anything about them. I was excited to learn that they combine my passions: hospitality and tech. So we started chatting and I realised how they were truly changing how hotels, hostels and other properties run and improve their guest and employee experience.

One thing led to another and I joined Mews in early 2018 as a Senior Implementations Manager. 8 months later, I got promoted to a Project Manager and, after another 8 months, I became Customer Success Director. “8” has always been my lucky number..!
As Customer Success Director, I work together with the Account Managers, Implementation Managers, and Co-Ordinators to ensure that we deliver an amazing onboarding experience to our clients as well as great service after they go live.
I have worked for several PMS companies over the past decade and I can say with utmost confidence that Mews is going places! The amount of progress we have made in the last year has been mind-blowing! When I started in February 2018, there were only 44 employees across 5 offices. Now, as of September 2019, we’re over 320 employees across 8 offices and still growing! I think what makes Mews so special is that we’ve got the right combination of what it takes to shake up the industry: a fantastic future-proof product and passionate people who are all focused on one common goal - making Mews the #1 PMS to rule them all and enabling space providers to deliver great service.

Whilst the Mews Commander PMS forms the heart of our ecosystem, I particularly love our payment solution Mews Merchant. Besides the fitting coincidence that we share a surname, it drives so much efficiency for our clients’ operations! I like how it fully automates payments and saves so much time and labour, eliminates paperwork and reconciles receipts so staff can focus on making the guests’ journeys memorable!
The ride has been fast-paced and exciting, but definitely worth it and it’s definitely a place where my career has been developing faster than I could have ever imagined. With the way that we’re growing and expanding so rapidly, all I can say is come join us and see for yourself. Thinking back to that time when I was wondering what the next steps in my career would be...everything worked out in the end.
